Greenpeace’s action for green energy

Activists at Pickering

Courageous Greenpeace activists blocked road access at the Pickering nuclear reactor earlier this month to demand that Nuclear Energy Minister George Smitherman replace the reactors with green energy. Ontario’s McGuinty government is currently pushing the biggest nuclear construction project in the world.

Bailouts for the Amazon

The Arctic Sunrise on the Amazon

Earlier this month, US President Barack Obama travelled to Brazil to meet with President Luis Inácio Lula da Silva (also known as Lula). Greenpeace sent both Presidents a letter urging them to consider the link between deforestation and climate change. Twenty percent of annual greenhouse gas emissions come from deforestation. At the same time, scientists have recently discovered that a shocking 85 per cent of the Amazon is at risk from climate change.

Green tips that aren’t (all) green tips

Green tips

For a long time, our Greenpeace Living Guide column consisted exclusively of handy (and very popular) 'green tips.' We told you how to clean your bathtub with baking soda, maximize energy in your kitchen and create an eco-friendly lawn. While we will still provide tools for daily life (and our website will continue to feature a wealth of green tips) our focus will now include green politics.
